Candle Creek Trails
The Wells Gray Outdoors club manages the Candle Creek Trail System. The trails are regularly groomed with a new Piston Bully cat for your enjoyment. This system comprises about 25 km of cross country ski trails through woodlands that range from green for the kids to black for advanced. You will find most trails are track set for classic skiing and have enough room for Skate skiing as well. The trails are found by driving north on Highway 5 about 2 km past the Info Centre or Dairy Queen, then turn left onto Candle Creek Road. Follow this road for 2 km and turn right on Barber Road. The parking-lot is right at the end of Barber Road. If the snow has not been cleared all the way to the parking lot, park in the cul-de-sac and ski the rest of the way.
The club has built a very warm and comfortable warming-cabin just above the parking-lot, which is open for the use of members and visitors during the ski season.
Visitors are always very welcome. There is a nominal fee for trail-use of $10 per visit which goes towards our grooming costs, payable at the 'honour-boxes' at the trailhead.
